Meeting Alexandra Shulman

During Freshers' fair last year, one of the clubs/societies I wanted to join the most was the Fashion Society because it gave me the impression that we would have the privilege of meeting many significant individuals who have contributed greatly to the fashion industry. There was also rumours that Stella McCartney would be speaking to LCF students this year. But over the course of the first term, there wasn't any news from this society and I felt that the membership fee was wasted on this useless club.

This is the first event 'organised' by the Fashion Society but in real fact put together by Topshop at Oxford Circus. (Basically Fashion Society needs to step it up and actually organise speaker events because if not this lame society is just irrelevant).

We got the listen to a Q&A session with Alexandra Shulman the editor of British Vogue and she also got to talk about her book which she spent 2 years on. Didn't expect to get so much out of this event: a signed copy of her book, meeting and taking a photo with her, seeing Philip Green (CEO of Arcadia Group) and also getting free cupcakes!

Initially decided to attend the speakers' programme at Uni who was the CEO of online start up store Stylist Pick. When I received the email regarding this week's speaker, I had to google 'StylistPick' because I haven' heard of it and when I did browse through the website, the sale section immediately caught my attention and within 2 seconds, I was adding a pair of gorgeous boots into my shopping bag and checking out.. Shopping happened all because of that uni email.

London is full of amazing opportunities and there seem to be so many events that you wish you could be at two places at once. If there wasn't this Topshop event, I would've gone to the Urban Outfitters launch party at Marble Arch! Photos on instagram looked so fun. Also, after the meet and greet session with Alexandra, there was a live music performance at the Burberry flagship store just down Regent street?
