The year the world was supposed to end

Recap: End of Nov 2010, completed A levels.
2011: My first gap year consisted of working at Anteprima, going to Spain and Abu Dhabi and then Kuala Lumpur/Malacca, working admin at Great Eastern and then going to New York and then being in debt to my mom until the end of the year. That was extremely eventful and amso glad I chose to take a year off.
Things didn't look so well when I didn't get into the college I want in NYC and had to wait another 9 months before starting uni life according to my back-up plan (LCF in London).

So here's what I did during those 9 months. A lot less partying and a lot more sober good time with friends.

Started my year at Clarke Quay last year and I don't even remember counting down. Next thing we knew it, it was 'HAPPY NEW YEAR' (watch video on facebook) and foam was being sprayed around . And then somehow I lost my friends and met Sheena and then cabbed to meet my friends again at Filter. Good times.

Chinese New Year 2012 wohoooo!! Good food (even better than Christmas), crabs, tom yum soup, pineapple tarts and lotsa lou hei!! I miss my relatives so much I can't believe I haven't seen them in months. Notice the usual asian 'peace sign' poses but somehow two of my uncles (extreme left and right) decided to show their spirit fingers instead.

Had enough of retail and admin jobs in 2011 so I pretty much did event jobs in 2012! They paid so well and hours were flexible.
February: Ipad job around malls.

Goofing around.

Weekend with Kelli and Laura when they came to visit from their exchange programme in Thailand. Showed them around the shopping/food streets and party places mainly Orchard Road, Chomp chomp, Clarke Quay and Zouk!

More time with Gen hehe hello jehnevief i miss you!!! Hope you're having a wonderful time in Malacca now.

My 20th birthday sleepover with pizza, nails and a movie marathon. LOVE.

The unpaid CLEO magazine internship in March, for a whole month. Brought home-cooked food for lunch practically every day. #budget

So..... remember I kinda came back home from my last day of internship with 10KG of cosmetics? TO KEEP. It's as if the magazine paid me over 1000bucks and I spent it all at Sephora and Sasa.

Visited Dad in Abu Dhabi again in May. Best relaxing trip of my life. Mall shopping, eating ice cream along the beach, going to the country club, sunbathing at the rooftop pool, going to the gym in the morning, eating Krispy Kreme and enjoy home-cooked meals with my parents :) Next time I fly there, I need to make a couple of friends.

Orchard Central roller-blading job. Basically it was free money and I can't believe I earned 100bucks each day which was only 3 hours. WOW.

Day trip to Johor Bahru in Malaysia. Had awesome Bah Kut Teh for lunch with my cousins. I hate durians they're so smelly! The entire time I was either holding my breath or loitering far away from that car full of smelly fruits.
Photo fun at Bishan Park on another afternoon before the usual shisha session at night. Whaddup. #smoke #rings

Dell event job at Vivo. Did not do anything in this one. Supposed to give out flyers but no, we were eating Carls Junior.

Twin shoot! Photos by Zakk.

Got my drivers license early last year and took completely forever to get my parents to let me drive alone. I haven't heard their nagging in so long I kinda miss it.
....NOT

My surprise farewell party at Chjimes awwww (Love you Char and Rach). I love my crown, sash and bimbo cake.

The. Send. Off.
The Singapore airport looks like a Five-star hotel. Good job and keep it up!
Sept 15. That marked the end of my 22nd month of 'a gap year.' Sorry NS men, you serve the country for 22 months, I work and travel the world during that period of time. And then move to London. Sorry, but anyway the government gives you so much money to make up for it (ahem, officers).

London time.

Surf trip to Cornwall, New Quay. Extremely fun and I plan to go there again next year. WAIT, I mean this year (2013).

Halloween at Piccadilly Institute.

Guy Fawkes night! Learnt so much about festivals here and traditions and cultures all thanks to hallmates especially Hannah :)

Waited at Leicester Square for THREE HOURS during the Breaking Dawn premiere and did not get a chance to see the main cast in real life at all because they went through another entrance. I'm not even gonna bother explaining cos it was such a waste of time.

The best part about winter is not the snow because there's no snow here and I'm really not looking forward to snow, I don't want my nose to feel like it's gonna fall off.
So anyway, the best part about winter is winter festivals because they have awesome FOOD.
Churros and chimney cakes are my favs of all time.

Xmas in London (photos unavailable) but basically my flatmate and I watched Revenge and Pretty Little Liars cos I'm too much of a wimp to watch PLL alone. The halloween episode was very very very scary and thanks to Sarah's warning I was prepared and made sure we watched the show in the kitchen with the sun shining brightly outside. Also painted my nails and had a sort of Greek/English xmas dinner down at the common room, courtesy of Manna Ash and the student who cooked everything.

NYE (photos unavailable) because I LOST MY IPHONE. I cannot get on with life without my iPhone. Hated New Years Day, the year didn't start right for me and I was depressed in my room and wallowing in self-pity. It was horrible. For the first time in my life I lost my appetite because that's how much I rely on my iPhone. It has so many functions and easiest way to communicate with my friends and family back home. ARGH. This post shall end here abruptly.
