Steph told me about this youtuber when we met up so I asked for her channel. I checked it out and I was instantly hooked on it. Clothes Encounters is right now my favourite youtube channel and I practically watched all her videos in 2 days (there are over 100 of them). Clothes Encounters was started by two Asian girls born and raised in California, but now the channel is managed by just one of them, Jen Im.
Her latest video..
I love that her style is up to trend and she always mix and matches. My favourite thing about Jen is that about half her wardrobe is thrifted and she doesn't obsess over labels.
I don't know about you, but I absolutely HATE it when makeup/nail art tutorial videos are too draggy and there are a lot of unnecessary pauses. I either skip straight to the teaching or close the window altogether. Clothes Encounters is the first youtube channel about outfits which I've come across and I love how it's edited in such a way that she is constantly talking so that the viewer doesn't lose interest. I gave other fashion channels a try and gave up watching after a few minutes, because the video wasn't presented/edited well.
Her videos are really inspirational and she often shows ways to wear a certain item. I do see her wearing certain pieces of clothing pretty often but it's never boring because she matches it with something different to make it a whole new look! That's what fashion is about; having fun and finding ways to express your personality.
I'm so glad Steph told me about this and scolded myself for not discovering it sooner.
Jen Im shops at Goodwill frequently so I googled for Goodwill outlets in London.. and THANK HEAVENS there are a few of them so when I reach the United Kingdom, Imma check them out ;)!
Hey, a college girl like me is on a tight budget. I simply can't afford so many designer labels, at least not right now..
Check out Clothes Encounters here.
