It's been 3 years since my whole family went on a holiday together, therefore my parents insisted we spend 10 days in Taiwan this winter season. Taiwan has been one of the top few destinations on my list ever since I got to know my Taiwanese flatmate. She would tell me all about the culture there and the local street food markets. The first thing I did after booking our flight tickets was to check for the top sights to visit on Lonely Planet. Definitely wanna visit the Taipei 101 & Shilin Night Market. The long list of interesting places make me wonder if 10 days is really enough to cover the northern part of the country.
The thought of getting to leave cold cold London during winter and enjoying a not-too-cold climate in Taiwan makes me feel extremely fortunate. The 14-22deg weather there would be PERFECT because it's the ideal temperature to travel around for me. Besides visiting hot springs and exploring night markets for the best street food, we'll also set aside time for shopping. Not quite sure of how Taiwan's fashion scene will appeal to me but that's the best part about travelling; not knowing what to expect.
Decided to do some research on Taiwanese designers because let's face it, we're surrounded by the big labels from New York, London, Paris and Milan, and we hear them so very often, that we tend to overlook the younger labels and appreciate the collection. Moreover, Style.com does not show every designer collection showcased during fashion week.
Found a designer called Ming Pin Tien and visited his website to learn more about the collection. I instantly fell in love with his pieces, especially those from this season (SS13)! Picked a few favourites and here they are below.
Spring Summer 2013
Autumn Winter 2013
His designs are fresh, with interesting silhouettes and cuts. And I am such a fan of geometric prints. I'd say the pieces are unique yet easy to style with at the time.
The collections are produced in Taiwan but showcased in London. Way to go at bringing his flavour to this English fashion capital.
