Downtown Manhattan: Nail spa & cupcakes

Currently, I'm in Manhattan for the week and it feels wonderful to be back here. I love the tall buildings, busy streets and there's just an endless number of things to do here! My flight from London was pretty bumpy, was so glad to get off the plane. I usually enjoy plane food, but TAP airline food has got to be the worst. The pasta was completely tasteless.

Anyway, moving back to New York, I have a pretty long to-do list here and that included getting my nails done. I would say it's pretty cheap here to get nails done (paid $20 for a mani&pedi here 2 years ago). This time, I decided to pamper myself and tried a cute little place along Mercer Street in SoHo.

Haven Spa provides a lot of services from facial spas to massages.

Refreshments were provided in a cosy room before the manicurist took me to my seat in another room. Decided on black french tips (extra $5). At the end, a nail kit is provided and first-time customers is given a small bag with body butter and foot repair balm.

Since it was along Mercer Street as well, we dropped by Georgetown cupcakes to have a bite. Anyone who watches the show 'DC cupcakes' of the two sisters who started a cupcake business in Washington D.C. would find this name very familiar. I chose a coffee cookies & creme flavoured cupcake and a cup of iced tea. Cupcakes are definitely one of my guilty pleasures and Georgetown cupcakes are absolutely yummy, almost as good as Magnolia Bakery's. The icing on top was just the best thing about this sweet treat.
