Yankees VS Blue Jays/ Shopping at Woodbury

I think this is by far the longest blog post.
There're about 100 photos?
Most of them are from Sheena's cam.
Her new camera makes mine look like shit.
A sign hinting that I should get a new one.
But I have NO $$
and I just found out that there was an IT fair when I was in NYC.
Damn. Oh well.

Tues! 30th Aug.
Since G's school had started, C had work, and S wasn't arriving to NYC till that evening, I spent the day alone touring Manhattan :D

Was pretty excited to go alone.
I could do anything I want and cover more areas without having to wait for someone. Of course that bad thing was that I wouldn't have 2nd opinions on clothes and people to take pictures with.

Braids.

Started downtown.

This shop really reminded me of bangkok. It has all the clothes which asians would wear and there's a lot of chiffon clothings, thin materials. Basically, those kind that Singaporeans would wear. BUT, the prices were ridiculously high. Could go up to about 30USD for a piece that I could get in Bangkok for about SGD8.

The cheap things to buy in NYC are local brands, H&M, F21, Sephora, M.A.C and a whole lot of other make up brands.

Found the Jil Sander boutique and helped buy the perfume for Gen.
It's not available in Asia. Sigh. Asia sucks.

NYU's just beside Waverly Place.
Anyway, remember "Wizards of the Waverly Place"
Disney Channel fan here..

Happen to walk past Madison Sq Garden! Where all the big shot artistes hold their concerts.
It's such a privilege for them to perform there.

I love how I always walk by something famous when I don't plan it. The day before, I walked into mood; the fabric store Project Runway contestants go to. And the next day, Madison Sq Garden. :)

Had Kyochon at Ktown. It's kinda like BonChon I guess?

Sheena getting down the coach which brought her to Manhattan from Newark Airport.

The good thing about it is that people in NY had a life. Shops close early (around 7pm).
A bit of an inconvenience to us (boohoo) but at least the workers have time to have dinner with friends/relax etc. I think that's pretty good. And healthy.
I got chased out of Subway cos they closed at 7pm.
Not kidding.
Retail/fnb hours in Singapore are wayyyy too long and when workers don't have enough time for leisure, they are unhappy.

Had Turkish dinner!

Visited Magnolia Bakery. LOVE THEIR CUPCAKES. It's super good. I could eat em everyday.

The next day:

C brought us to Clinton St bakery downtown for breakfast.

Shopped around soho. There were many boutiques, really cute.

Walked a lot that day.
Had Italian dinner then headed across the street to..

I heard there was a movie about this dessert place?
I have no idea. A couple of people told me.

TOO MUCH RIGHT.

It's freaking huge and sinful. Even tho S and I shared, we couldn't finish it.
Mayb cos we were pretty full from our dinner.

First day touring Manhattan with S!!

Lotsa photo-taking at Grand Central.
It's GRAND CENTRAL. The prettiest train station in the history of train stations (I think)

Took a shuttle subway down to Times Sq, it's only like a minute away.
LOVE IT.

How pretty is it?
Lovin my non-black hair, which I plan to dye again bytheway..

F21 at Times Sq.
There are like 4 levels. 4 HUGE levels.
Compared to that, the one at 313 is friggin tiny.
It goes till basement 4 and this is personally my favourite F21 store in the entire Manhattan.
We spent over an hour here.
Basics were like $2.80 (Y)

M&M store.

Was wearing a blue silk top bought at a Sample Store the day before.
It's from Adam Lippes.
Don't worry, never heard of this local designer before either.

There was machine which could tell you which M&M colour/flavour you are by standing inside that area.

I think that's accurate. I am going/will go for it, whatever it is.

Bedazzled ear studs, hehe.

LOL

Applebees.

Many diners have the amount of calories beside each dish.
It's helpful for those who care.
But we just ordered this apple turnover (below) despite the "1000 calories" beside it.

At 5th ave. My favourite shopping street of Manhattan!
Because it's just one straight road and more spacious unlike SoHo which I find kinda cram and crowded.

Can you see the major Sephora store across the street? :)
Sephora lipsticks in Singapore are 24SGD but it's 12USD over there. WTF?
I'm never EVER gonna buy anything from Sephora Singapore. I've got everything I wanted in NYC already.

We met G and Sevim in Brooklyn for dinner.
She brought us to a Thai Restaurant to have pad thai.

Pad thai!

Not many asian restaurants there are actually authentic. The same as how many restaurants in SG aren't authentic either (jap restaurant Waraku serves seafood baked rice with cheese okay)
So anyway, there was Creme Brulee on the dessert menu at this thai place.
LOL

They brought us to the Promenade and it's the most gorgeous place.
I could see the entire Manhattan from there.
All the lights and buildings, the Brooklyn bridge.
I know it's all buildings etc, but the view is breathtaking! It was windy, and there was benches.
Such a good place to relax.
If I lived in Brooklyn Heights and needed to take a walk/was stressed out from school work/having a bad day, taking a walk down the Promenade would instantly make me feel SOO much better.

AWESOME BACKGROUND

At the park: they would often have movie screenings open to the public.
How cool is that.
Just bring a mat and some food and enjoy the weather/view/movie.
ahhh...

This is such a cute photo.

I like this photo a lot.

Friday 2nd sept. The day we went to a Yankee game.

Shopped in the afternoon. Game was at 7pm.

Took a subway to the Bronx, where the Yankee Stadium was!
So exciting.
I've never watched a baseball game in my life.
Thankfully, G told me the basic rules of baseball.
The tickets were over a 100bucks, I had to understand what I was gonna watch..

Bought an overpriced foam finger and a SUPER overpriced cap.
You don't wanna know.
But we were in such an excited mood and we really wanted the foam finger/NY yankees cap so we bought em.

Macs before the game.

Sheena bought 20 nuggets altho I only wanted a few, cos she told me they were only like 5bucks. ??WTF??

She was so happy to find a heart-shaped nuggest *rolls eyes*

Took more photos outside the Stadium.
Once in the lifetime right...

We posed as if our foam fingers were guns..

nose pickers..

suicide tool..

and er, gun. Again.

ALL the junk food you can ever find.
The game is just so much more enjoyable when you're eating junk food as well.

Beautiful!!!
I even took videos of the surrounding.

In case you don't get it, my birthday is on March 23rd.
So.. cliche-ly, my favourite no. is 23 (duh)

View from our seats.
We had really good seats! I didn't realise it till we got there, even though we chose them online.
We were on the first level, and during the game, one of the balls flew our way and landed just 2 rows in front of us. So close. S was so unhappy.

I like this photo

Tickets!

Another overpriced item we bought.
That long hotdog.
10USD.
Yes.
10.
Shut.up. We were at the Yankees. We were in the mood.

S thinks he's cute.
He and Jeter (captain) are really good players!!
Tho not as good as Riveria.

Oh yeah, this match was the New York Yankees against Toronto's Blue Jays.

Match was really close. 3-2! Thank god the Yankees won :)

WOHOOO

Saturday: Shopping at Woodbury outlet mall

Breakfast at a french cafe.

My belgian waffle. I always choose waffles. I love waffles. Waffles are freakin darn delicious.

Coach to Woodbury. Ride was about 1.5 hours.

Bought a hell lot of stuff. It was the labor day weekend so there were further discounts cos of the Labor Day Weekend sale. Prices were slashed so much. Kenneth Cole was really cheap!!
We had a total of 11 paper bags by the end of the day.
We would have more if we didn't combine the items together.
Carrying them around was torture and I'm surprised we survived.

Added to the mess. oops.

Ravioli, lagsana and soup for dinner.
And Riesling wine :)
My favourite

Sunday: The High Line.

So true.

Lunch at... whatitsplace..

Then a railway for trains, now a park for the public; the High Line.

Pretty cool huh

Take a walk down the railway.

It was really sunny, was so hot. Of course not as hot as Sg cos Sg is so damn humid and depressing.

There was a shaving ice/ice cream stall.
This dude would shave ice from that block of ice.

Good $ for him cos it was like $2.50 a cup.

:)

How cute, a lotus leaf as a chair

Saw a fleet of police cars heading somewhere with their sirens wailing.
There were like more than 30, I swear.

Sigh, I miss Trump.

So, non-employees NEED not wash their hands?
Optional is it?
How about a simple "please wash your hands".

Yknow how Clarke Quay is the area known to have clubs/bars, etc.
Well, a lot of clubs in Manhattan are in the Meatpacking district.
And that's where we headed that night.

At club Griffin.

Great music, better than SG.
Super crowded.
One thing bad was that there wasn't a proper dancefloor.

Had pizza for supper.
After that, we went into Club Avenue cos it was just next door and the bouncer let us in for free.
Never in my life have I clubbed, ate supper, then clubbed again. LOL

Burgers at Shake Shack the next day.

Great weather to eat at the park!

The cheese fries were really good.

People were watching the US open live at the park.

Gosh, Derek Jeter owns a gym.
I found out from Google that he owns an apartment in Trump.. but rented it out to someone else!
Dammit. I could've bumped into him.

Rockefeller Center..

Saks at 5th ave.
I prefer this department store to the rest (bloomingdale's, bergdorf, barney's, lord and taylor..)

LOVE IT!!!
Bought Estee Lauder, MAC and Chanel make up from here :)

Dinner:

I love seafood. But the best seafood I've tasted was in Spain.

Happy 21st Sheena Ong.
Luv you cousin!!

Not everybody gets to turn legal in the greatest city in the world :D

I really miss NYC a lot and I find myself looking at the photos everyday.
Life back here is so depressing..
And not knowing where I'll be in a few months time is making me uneasy and stressed out.
Ughh....
