Concrete jungle where dreams are made of

Woke up at 5am this morning (Sunday) to find that it was pouring outside with occassional strong blows of wind.
Didn't think I was gonna die though. I knew I was well taken care of.

It never crossed my mind that Hurricane Irene would be detrimental or cause massive damage to Manhatten.
Yes, it was coming our way to NYC, but usually hurricanes (or any other natural disasters like tsunami) will weaken as distance travelled increases.
And all the news showing floods and fallen trees are actually where the hurricane impact most, in other states like New Jersey and North Carolina.

Also, news is more interesting to watch if the disaster is worst isn't it. The whole point of exaggerating the news is to make people expect the worst, thurs preparing and not taking anything to granted. When people are more prepared, damage done is lesser. No?

So yeah, the new yorkers are pretty calm about the storm. They DO stock up but they're not frantic and there's no chaos.
I'd say the frantic people are the rest of the world.
LOL
Friends are bbming/whatsapping me asking if everything's okay.
I feel loved.
I love my friends.

and I'm okay!
Totally safe.
Staying at cousin's friend's place now cos it's further uptown away which is safer and uphill (Y).

Bloomingdales and Urban outfitters is nearby!!
Wanna visit Via Spiga too. The shoes look great.
And there's so much to do in this apartment. Card games to play, movies to watch, food to eat.
Magazines to read! There's Vogue, Harper's Bazaar etc.

Moving back to trump in about an hour or so.

Watched the press conference by Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York. Subways are gonna operate sooner than expected hurray!! And not much damaged has been done to Manhattan.

Some would think Ive come to NYC at the worst timing that I've wasted my $.
But I'm pretty glad Ive experience a hurricane. LOL
and honestly, it was nothing cos i'm a safe zone area.
I didn't even camp in, I went to a bar for lunch and played pinball.
Since the hurricane is over, i'm going out later too.

Sheena's so bummed cos she wanted to be here for Irene. Her flight got delayed so hopefully she'll be flying in on Tuesday.

When we were shopping at Duane Reades to stock up on food, Georgina was like 'isn't this exciting?' LOL and she lives a block from Wall St which is a low-lying area.

Anyways, shall go now. I have a New York Times Style Magazine to read.
BYE!!

Oh, congrats to Gen for getting her drivers license. So proud of you and Dominic. Either of you can drive us to Demsey now. heheheheheh luv u!!! and congrats on those 2 pageant awards.
