Best trip ever.
Gen and I went to Bangkok for a 4 day 3 night shopping trip :D
Mom was our chaperone.
We stayed at Grand Diamond Hotel!!
Everyone who wants to shop at Platinum should stay here!
It's not expensive (about 50SGD per person per night), it's beside Platinum Mall, walking distance from Central mall, MBK, and Siam paragon.
and breakfast is included!

The room is like a suite.

Sitting Area.
Kitchen.
Why shouldn't you stay here??

We're so glad we manage to cover all 3 zones.

Roadside stalls. I love the food in thailand. The portions aren't big so I won't overeat. And each meals cost less than SGD2!
Even my lunch in NYJC canteen costs more than that.
We walked to Siam paragon and MBK on the 2nd day..
Madame Tussauds in Bangkok. Didn't buy entry tickets. I shall go to the one in NEWYORK CITY in Aug :)

What makes you think the beggar will feed the dog if you give him money?
He may just feed himself.
I would just buy dog food and give to him.
Same goes for another beggar carrying a baby. I would give her baby food to feed the baby.

The last time I came here was with TK choir in 2007.
We stopped by MBK for a shopping day trip before heading back to Singapore.
OMGAWD. I love 199 shops. 199 Baht's like sgd8 only.
Headed to Khao San that night.
Came here becos Sarah suggested this place.
Totally don't regret it at all.
Khaosan Road in Bangkok is like the Jonker street of Malacca.
Just that in Khao san, there's A LOT of ang mohs. Idk why, but they're just there.
There are clubs, bars, cafes, tattoo and massage parlours, clothing and food stalls. I LOVE IT.
and we are able to bargain there, unlike Platinum mall.
Gen and I braided our hair for 125Baht each. :)

I love shopping at Platinum during off peak hours cos it's so empty.
Traffic in Bangkok is BADDDDD. and drivers are so reckless. It's pretty scary.
On the tuktuk. I look too excited.
Okay, Gen's worse.
On our way back to Central world, our tuktuk driver did a couple of illegal U-turns and also went against the traffic at one point of time.
Imagine moving forward with another car coming right at you from the opposite direction.
Lucky Buddha. Where a lot of buddhists come to pray.
Not one so didn't go in.
Central world.
Didn't shop here cos it's like any other mall in Singapore. And everything is above our budget so no point.
Spotted this lil boy carrying a medium size Le Pliage. So cute!
I know it's not really obvious but if you look closely I'm carrying my shoe beside the giant shoe.

We went back to Platinum.

Gen didn't spend much during this trip, am so disappointed in her. Lol.
During most of our shopping time, she would be carrying like 3 shopping bags only and I would be carrying like.. 7.
I think I was too overwhelmed by everything.
I exceeded my Bangkok budget. But it's OKAY.
Yknow why?
I'm spending money I've earned.
And I haven't been shopping in Singapore. I've been waiting for Bangkok.
And everything is damn cheap there.
And I'm happy with all my buys.

It's such a turn off to see fake items.
MBK is flooded with fake items, it's pretty disgusting.
Seriously? This doesn't make sense..
Pretty much spent the last day accompanying Gen to shop instead of shopping WITH her because I was soooo broke.
Started to notice shop names instead.
Platinum has about 3000 shop units (I think).
And because it's thailand and thai people's english is really bad, most of the shop names are STUPID.
One shop's name is SALAD.
another one is called DRESSING.

This trip just flew by. I don't know how time can pass to fast.
4 days is actually quite a long time.
Gahhhhhh.
Flight back to Sg was delayed for almost 4 hours.
So we rotted at Starbucks for like 6 hours because we reached the airport early.
I feel like I've wasted those few hours of my life. Free wifi lasted for 15 min only.
And I didn't have a book to read.
So gen and I just camwhored.
Then she read her book.
So I rotted.
But shan't complain too much, cos NS men waste 2 years of their youth (sorry)

I'm SOOO HAPPY.
I'm glad Gen and I could go on this trip.
We've been talking about it since last yr, we just weren't sure that it'll materialise.
Spent the 2hour flight back chatting with her.
Didn't sleep, didn't listen to my mp3.

We made a pact to stay friends till we're old and wrinkly. Cos I really don't wanna be those adults who have no friends to hang out with. I'm really afraid of that.
And shopping with Gen is really good!! This is the first time our shopping experience together productive. In Singapore, we would be too lazy to shop for long. We would just end up sitting at a fast food place to eat and talk. HAHA. #fail.
I'm surprised that her sense of direction is pretty good. So it's good to travel with her.
But I think her sense of direction is only good around the mall, like which shop is where etc, not which building is on what road.
In conclusion, I love bangkok, and I love travelling with gen.
For now, I need to settle my uni future, save money for nyc, and lose weight!
